Early Years Stronger Practice Adviser (EYSPAs) Childminder Adviser

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Childminder to make a real impact supporting other childminders to improve quality and helping give children the best start in life.

This opportunity could be to work during the evenings and/or weekends to suit you and those you are supporting.

As a Childminder Early Years Stronger Practice Adviser, your experience and passion will be instrumental in building professional confidence, driving continuous improvement, and embedding evidence-informed approaches across the sector. You might be supporting childminders identified by Ofsted as needing improvement, or those with high numbers of EYPP, 2 year-old offer, or children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) or English as an additional language (EAL). Previous experts or mentors from the covid recovery programme are encouraged to apply.

The Childminder EYSPA must be available for 3 days face to face training between September – December 2026. Bespoke deployments would start from January 2027.

The Childminder EYSPA will operate with reimbursement made to your setting. Payment will depend on deployments and hours worked, based on an allocatedΒ day rate ofΒ Β£400 per day. This must include any travel and subsistence costs. The roles are funded up until March 2028 in the first instance, with the possibility of contracts being extended dependent on funding.

  • Childminder EYSPA (1 role): You will currently be working as a childminder/childminder assistant or be working within a local authority supporting childminders.


Childminder EYSPA will support one cluster of up to four childminders per term. To provide bespoke, targeted support to improve practice, build professional confidence, and support continuous improvement across the settings through coaching, modelling best practice and providing opportunities for reflection. As you will be supporting a cluster,Β this is likely to be done virtually.Β 

You will have experience of working with children aged between 0 to 4 years old in an early childhood education context and will be qualified to level 3 for the Childminder EYSPA role.

As a Group-Based Early Years Stronger Practice Adviser, your experience and passion will be instrumental in building professional confidence, driving continuous improvement, and embedding evidence-informed approaches across the sector. You might be supporting settings identified by Ofsted as needing improvement, or those with high numbers of EYPP, 2 year-old offer, or children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) or English as an additional language (EAL). Previous experts or mentors from the covid recovery programme are encouraged to apply.

The Group-Based EYSPAs must be available for 3 days face to face training between September – December 2026. Bespoke deployments would start from January 2027.

The Group-Based EYSPAs will operate with reimbursement made to your setting. Payment will depend on deployments and hours worked, based on an allocated day rate of Β£500 per day. This must include any travel and subsistence costs. The roles are funded up until March 2028 in the first instance, with the possibility of contracts being extended dependent on funding.

  • Group-Based EYSPAs (4 roles): You will currently be working in an early years setting, including schools, nursery school, a Private, Voluntary, Independent (PVI) nursery or other early years settings. Applications are also accepted from staff currently working in early years roles within Local Authorities (LAs).
  • Group-Based EYSPAs must have a Level 6 or above early years qualification and have agreement from their home setting manager/owner/head teacher to take part in the programme.
  • Group-Based EYSPAs will need their own transport and be expected to travel within the Peterborough, Cambridgeshire and Central Bedfordshire areas to support eligible settings face to face.

Group-Based EYSPAs will support:
  • Up to 14 days per term (or 42 days per year)
  • Up to 3 settings per term (3-4 days for each deployment)
  • And two days for planning/ Hub work per term
