The school Governing Body has a range of duties and responsibilities, which ensure that the school operates efficiently and effectively. We have regular meetings to discuss key issues including the school's finances, staffing, curriculum and buildings. If you have any ideas or concerns that you would like to discuss with a governor you can contact us through Reception. Almost anyone over 18 years of age can become a governor. There are no particular qualifications or requirements, other than a willingness to give time to the role, a capacity for working with other people and a passion for Caverstede Nursery School. Â
The governing board provides strategic leadership and accountability in schools. It has three key functions:
- Overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent
- Holding the headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils
- Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction
Governors set the aims and objectives for the school and set the policies and targets for achieving those aims and objectives.
They monitor and evaluate the progress the school is making and act as a source of challenge and support to the headteacher.
Caverstede Governing Board has four committees, carrying out specific duties as delegated by the governing board. Details of these are below.
