Neurodiversity affirming practice means that you believe in a strengths and rights-based approach to developmental differences and aim to provide support and adaptions that affirm the child and young persons neurodivergent identity, rather than trying to change it.

This training will be exploring neurodiversity and what neurodiveristy affirming practice looks like within Speech & Language Therapy. The training will introduce attendees to the concepts of neurodiversity and the neurodiversity movement. We will look at the importance of words and the terminolgy changes you may already be observing in reports as well as reflecting on your own use of terminology in your settings. The Speech and Language Therapy service will discuss what neurodiversity affirming practice means for them and the positive changes they have made, including information regarding adaptions to intervention strategies and advice.

This training is aimed at SENCO's, Early Years Leads, Manahers, Teachers, HLTAs, TAs, Early Years Practitioners and Childminders.

This training will be delivered by the Speech and Language Therapy team.
