Remote Learning
Learning at Home during COVID-19
Dear Parents / Carers
As you may be aware, schools are required to have a remote learning plan in place so that any child who cannot attend school because of COVID-19 does not miss out on their learning. This letter explains our plans for remote learning for children who have to stay at home due to COVID-19.
Our Remote Learning Plan
As a Nursery school catering for children aged between 2 and 4 years of age we understand that it will not be possible to fully replicate our carefully developed curriculum at home. However, we are committed to providing ongoing support and education for you and your child. Our remote learning plan has been made with our children and their families in mind.
We will be offering, via our Online Learning Journal Tapestry, a range of activities, songs/rhymes and stories. It is our aim to provide at least one story or song/rhyme and one activity for each child per session that they attend. For your information one session is one morning or one afternoon.
Online dialogue will continue via Tapestry so that parents / carers can continue to communicate about the learning with staff, and of course continue to post photographs and observations.
Our Aims
It is our aim to provide activities that are:
- easy for you to deliver
- that provide variety for your child
- where possible using things that are easily available to you around the home
- do not require much printing
- involve some access to outside, of course conforming to Government restrictions.
Please be assured that if we do suggest printing something out we will try to provide an alternative that does not involve printing. If you do require an item to be printed please let us know and we will arrange this.
What you can do to help
We appreciate that if this situation arises, and you do need to keep your child at home, it may present some challenges for you. We kindly ask for your support so that we can continue to provide high-quality education for your child during this time.
If possible please access the activities and share them with your child. You may find it helpful to access the activity prior to completing it with your child in case you need to prepare anything.
Do not be concerned or worry that you will not be able to ‘deliver’ the activities. It is important to realize that spending time talking and playing with your child is the most important thing.
Please do let us know how the activities went through Tapestry, we enjoy reading your posts and seeing photographs of how your child has been doing.
Children with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND)
If your child is on our SEND Register then we will remind you of their SEN Support Targets that were developed with you during their last SEN Support Meeting. They will be posted on your child’s Tapestry account. The Key Person will discuss the targets will you and supply any resources that you may require and support you to deliver the targets at home.
If you are having any difficulties with remote learning, or if you have any questions, in the first instance please contact us through Tapestry. If Tapestry is the issue then please contact us through calling Reception 01733 571742.
Thank you for your continued support.
