IOSH Training at Caverstede

Health and Safety for School Business Managers - IOSH Accredited on 13th & 14th June 2018

This course is accredited by IOSH (Institute of Occupational Safety and Health) and will be run by In House Safety (wholly owned subsidiary of PHSC plc) 

The course runs from 9.30 am to 4.30pm for two days.   

Target Audience

Any Manager within a school, including school business managers, site managers, facilities managers, caretakers and support staff with a responsibility for managing or implementing health & Safety

Objectives 

This is a 2 day, bespoke course for managers in schools/academies. At the end of the course delegates will return to their school/academy and be able to:

• understand the key legal requirements and standards to be achieved within the school

• understand how accidents occur, and how to implement simple systems to prevent them, also to ensure correct protocols are followed in the event of an accident to reduce criminal or civil liability and reassure colleagues and caregivers

• conduct a risk assessment and implement a risk assessment strategy

• identify the key hazards in the school environment and the management and controls of each

• implement simple safety systems into other business initiatives and responsibilities to enable an integrated approach to safety

Cost

£350 this includes refreshments and all training materials.

Lunch is not included so please bring your own

 

On completion of this 2 day course you will be awarded with an IOSH Certificate valid for 3 years.

IOSH training for Senior Personnel - 12th October 2017
 

This course is suitable for senior personnel with strategic responsibility for determining and implementing effective health & safety management systems within their school. This would also be ideal for members of Senior Leadership Teams in schools and also School Governors.

 At the end of the training, delegates will be able to;

  • Describe the legal, moral and financial role of senior personnel - including their responsibilities & accountabilities
  • Explain the importance of health & safety at top-management level and how integrating those objectives can help to minimise risk, reduce losses and make better use of time & resources
  • Be aware of the consequences of failing to manage health and safety
  • Understand the principles and methods of a management system, continual improvement and annual reporting
  • Understand how health and safety can be integrated into other business objectives
  • Understand how use of a validated safety management system can provide  added value, particularly during Ofsted inspections, marketing your school or with parents
  • Understand key legislation

These are some of the main points that will be covered during the course. There will be other areas that will help you to demonstrate leadership with regard to health & safety.

On completion of the course, you will receive an IOSH certificate - valid for 3 years

In 2012 I took part in the IOSH training for School Managers and found it extremely beneficial to fulfil my role in Health & Safety.

Therefore in order to maintain the same accreditation, I am pleased to announce that we are holding the same course here at Caverstede Early Years Centre in May 2016. We have 10 places available at £350.00 each.
